I cannot believe Halloween has come and gone this year. Despite it being one of my favorite holidays, I kept it pretty chill this year. I am pretty sure the gross weather had a lot to do with it. I did dress up at school as a comic book character though, going all out on my makeup to perfect a comic book aesthetic. To end my week, I went to a party at the independent movie theatre: The Nightlight with my college bestie, Giselle. Assembling a last-minute costume, I created a dark-eyed, blood, red lips look combined with one of my many black dresses, to become a vampire. And lastly, I found this orange, velvet dress at Target. It was just too cute to pass up. It reminds me of a dress Ms. Frizzle would wear for Halloween; as a teacher I will happily embrace anything that gives me Ms. Frizzle whimsy vibes. The vibrant orange and bat pattern is just so fun! I paired this dress with my go-to leather jacket and some leather booties.

I had a blast finally shooting and exploring Akron with my newest photo friend, Lindsey Poy—check out some of her work here. 

As for a random life update: I know I've been MIA, but this quarter my priority has been getting acclimated to school. In the meantime, I somehow have created a ton of content waiting to be posted, so stay tuned!

Hey guys.. great news! There is more to come to Renaissance Zafi. As a renaissance woman I have been trying to integrate some of my other loves. Here is my first post to make the effort and officially start adding some art adventures! I will be posting about gallery and museum visits... as well as hopefully some of my own artwork process posts..

When I went home I was able to visit the Akron Art Museum. It def is not as big as the Met, and it's not NYC, but it's part of my hometown. The Akron Art Museum is also pretty impressive for a local small town museum. Firstly, the architecture alone is amazing. It connects old and new, part an old brick building, and the other half a gorgeous glass creation of amazing angles. Thanks to my brother I was able to take a minute and marvel at this Akron wonder designed by Coop Himmelb(l)au. (thanks Faris, for teaching me that as well!) Secondly, it houses some pretty famous works of art- Chuck Close, Frank Stella, Kehinde Wiley, also many artists that I personally know! Some of my professors have work exhibited, and it is inspiring. Maybe one day you will see my work there? 

It was gross and rainy the entire time I was home. I wore my pacific thermal from free people, my New fave Tobi jeans, my go to Nasty Gal jacket, and black booties.

Hello Hello! Happy New Year!! 

I hope you all had a happy holidays and are kicking off week one of the new year right. :) I know I have been MIA, I went home and my brother came to visit. I figured I would rest, recharge and come back strong! 

My new years was overall pretty chill; my brother and I went to Brooklyn to see some fireworks. We had gone to the Oculus earlier in the day and it was packed, due to the holiday tourism. After celebrating the new year we decided it would be fun to go back super late! It was soo empty and perfect for a shoot. I just love the architecture here and mostly how aesthetic good it is, being that it is completely white. Photo dreams come true. 

For my outfit, I still wanted sparkle to ring in the new year right, but was not about being too cold, or having aching feet. I wore a gold glitter crop from h&m. I say yes to gold all day everyday, but the sequin fun made it perfect for the new year celebrations. I then paired the top with some Pac Sun high-waisted black skinnies. I threw on my go to leather jacket, and my patent leather doc martens. My outfit was a combination of fun and edgy. 

I'm so excited for whats to come this new year! For me I didn't make specific resolutions to accomplish but general things to do in life more. So if I at least do it more than last, I will feel more accomplished. Some of mine- travel more, live more, take more photos, draw, create, and love more.

Can't complain, so far it's been decent weather December. In the past week it has become colder and more windy. Perfect for layering and fur! I have been loving the fur trend; coats and vests galore! 

Today's outfit is a perfect blend of comfy-cute and edgy-chic. I'm wearing an appliqué sheer sleeve top from free people. The sheer sleeves are just so pretty! My bottoms are mini herringbone printed lululemon tights. I layered this look with my Nasty Gal leather jacket and ebay fur vest for added warmed and edge. To finish the look I wore my Just Fab moto booties, Free People Lolita choker, and some Francesca studs. Lately its been my favorite to wear my hair half up and half down. I used to wear my hair like this all the time as a child and am glad to bring it back thanks to Ariana Grande for hair inspo, and envy. 

Overall a perfect outfit for a day of running around the city or lunch with your bestie!
